Who would be the audience for you media project?

Mentioned in a previous post, our initial age rating was a 12A because we thought that the film wouldn't contain any topics which could effect a younger audience.

When we presented our pitch to our peers it was instantly commented on, the whole group saying 12A would be far too young. After some research and suggestions from our peers we decided that 15 would be a reasonable rating, as it was the same rating as the film Se7en, which was a lot more graphic than our product.

In our surveys we asked different age groups about their preferences in thriller films. The results showed us that most of the people filling in the survey were 16-18 years old, which matched with our new certification perfectly, with well over half of our survey answers being over 15. 

In our survey results we discovered that the majority of our audience was female, which was shocking as stereotypically males prefer thrillers or dark films, this could have been because of a small focus group or that more females were willing to do it than males. If we were to do the whole project again we would spend more time gathering information from surveys and analysing it.
